Development And Research Expeditions

Project Applications 2009

APPLICATION DEADLINE: Monday 9th Feb 2009, at 5pm

Information for candidates:

Project Preference:

Before filling in the application form, please take time to read the information we have given you about each project and look up any additional information e.g. via the web links provided. It is important that you also do some research for yourself about the country to decide whether you will be able to cope with the different food, weather, culture, etc. If you have any additional questions about the projects or the country, please contact the committee at daredundee@googlemail.com.

We do take candidates project preferences into account when placing them on projects however we cannot guarantee that the preferences you list can be accommodated.

Please be aware that projects advertised may not run due to circumstances outside D.A.R.E.s control.

Application form

Please fill this in as honestly and fully as possible.
A passport sized photograph MUST be attached.

This year applications can only be made via email: daredundee@gmail.com

The interview

Every applicant will be offered an interview on Saturday 21st February. Please keep this date free. You will be contacted by e-mail after the application deadline to arrange a time.
In most cases, candidates will only be interviewed for one project and should prepare for the interview accordingly. You will be interviewed by the project organiser or someone who has previously been on that project, plus a senior D.A.R.E. member. Interviews are informal, and all interviews are strictly confidential.

We cannot guarantee every applicant a place on a project. If you are not selected, you can apply next year or ask to be put on the reserve list in case of places becoming available at a later date. Remember, most of D.A.R.E.s work happens here in Dundee and going on a project is not the only way to contribute to the lives of those we help. We are always looking for people to join the committee, help with fundraising ideas and events and help organise future projects.

Accepting a place

If you are selected, we require that you fill in your confirmation of acceptance form (which will be e-mailed to you when you are told you have a place), a code of conduct form and give a cheque of £60 as a deposit. Providing you complete the project and fill in and return your project review form, this will not be cashed and will be returned to you in September on receipt of your project review form.

Finally: If you are selected for a project, we will expect a high level of commitment from you for the rest of the academic year. As well as some additional fundraising or preparation for your project, we expect you to attend and help at D.A.R.E. events and meetings and attend any training sessions we feel necessary for your project.
