Tanzania

The DARE Societys African project is our longest running and takes place in an orphanage in Tosamaganga, Tanzania. With over 200 children to look after the crazy nuns that run the place have their hands full! And this is where DARE steps in.

The Tanzania project is for those of us who LOVE kids and believe me you have to because at any one given time you could have six hanging off you to give you a cuddle! Daily activities at the orphanage include getting the kids up, washed, fed and dressed, helping at the kindergarten with songs and games, looking after and feeding the babies, teaching the kids and nuns English and helping out with dinner and dishes. This year the group were also able to help brighten up the orphanage with general painting and murals. In past years groups have also kitted out the orphanage with mosquito nets, bought the nuns a new battery for their jeep (much needed!) and helped refurbish parts of the orphanage.

After a hard few weeks at the orphanage groups have chosen to go on safari or off to the beautiful island of Zanzibar to recharge their batteries and get a well earned rest. Africa is a beautiful country and this project is so popular we have many students going again and again.
